Topic 10: Authoritarian states: Hitler and Nazi Germany
The next series of tabs (above) outline a selection of key learning activities from my unit on Hitler and the Nazi regime. Each learning activity is designed to teach the material through the substantive conceptual lenses of power and crisis. Furthermore, each learning activity is designed on a historical thinking concept. In brief, the activities will consist of:
Establish historical significance - circumstances surrounding Hitler's rise to power
Use primary source evidence - how much did Germans support Hitler?
Identify continuity and change - what changed and what remained the same? An examination of Hitler's leadership and intent
Analyse cause and consequence - the impact of domestic policies on women
Take historical perspectives - understanding 'mass compliance': persecution of minorities and limited opposition
Understand the ethical dimension of historical interpretations - foreign policies
